TO THE EDITOR:
“If you can’t stop thinking about it, Don’t stop working for it”.
This is why I am writing re: 2019 Heritage Days Coronation.
The candidates had to have a speech ready & would be asked a fish bowl question at coronation. It never happened. It seemed the decision was already made on who would win so why go through the motions. The speech & question were part of the judging. How do you just not do it?
Four candidates crowned were the children of members of the ambassador program. What does that tell you? AND the crowns Miss & Jr Miss were crowned with weren’t good enough. The mother of these girls, also a part of the ambassador program, ordered bigger crowns just in time for the picture in the paper.
Recently I was told by one of the judges that “at least one” of the girls not crowned was supposed to be crowned in her age group but someone apparently overrode that decision. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? AND WHAT DO WE DO SO IT DOESN’T HAPPEN AGAIN?
I hope someone reading this is willing to get involved & turn this program around & make it fair for everyone participating.
