TO THE EDITOR:
Nationally, much has been said about the nominated HHS director Robert F Kennedy Jr., and whether or not he wants to pull the polio vaccine. I was given the polio vaccine back in 1968 (booster in 1973). What they are touting as the polio vaccine today is NOT the same formulation that was given back then and is not the same vaccine developed by Jonas Salk or Albert Sabin. To provide an analogy, original Coke had cocaine in it, later the cocaine was removed but real sugar used, then came New Coke, only to be replaced by something closer to the original recipe but with corn syrup not sugar . . . it’s not the same. Also the study/criteria used to approve a vaccine back then is not the same as the criteria used today, the criteria is less stringent. So don’t be fooled by the news media that accepts billions of dollars in advertising from the pharmaceutical industry when they attempt to paint RFK Jr., is some type of nut. They are omitting a lot of background. Do your research, not just for the polio vaccine but all vaccines.
