The Citizen-Tribune in recent weeks has carried stories on the coaches and basketball and wrestling athletes who have made a great name for Becker, ascending to state tournament level.

 

The young ladies of Coach Baird won their way into the state Class 3A basketball championship game.

 

Several wrestlers placed high in section competition and also advanced to the state tournament.

 

We are impressed by the comments made by Coaches Aho and Zimmer when speaking of their wrestling athletes - and the joy they receive from being their mentors.

 

School is such an important part in the formation of good work habits in a young person’s life. As the two wrestling coaches said, their joy comes from being teachers and molding the thought processes and practices of their athletes.

 

Going the extra mile in practice to gain a new skill is a step in their life’s progression that will help lead to success after they turn their tassels and say farewell to BHS.

 

We’re proud of all the coaches and teachers who  establish these invaluable links to students and their achievements.

 

Because that’s what school is - a very important audition for the world outside.
