As we continue to combat the spread of COVID-19, I am committed to ensuring you have the information and resources you need. I have compiled daily updates, resources and contacts for you to keep your families safe and informed. Visit my COVID-19 page to learn more.
Last week, I e-mailed many of you my latest resource kit for individuals. From direct assistance to mortgage guidance, read below for more information and visit my web page.
In addition, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act implemented programs for employers to pay and retain employees during this trying time. I sent a letter to the administration urging that rural hospitals and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) be able to apply for and receive these loans. I also supported an effort to ensure that religious nonprofits are able to apply as well. These are important organizations that include schools and day cares in our communities. We must ensure they are also supported through this time.
Lastly, I led a letter along with 27 of my colleagues asking for flexibility in businesses applying for the Employee Retention Credit. This credit ensures support for businesses that retain and pay employees during this time.
Congress meant for this credit to be applied broadly so that individuals could continue to receive a paycheck right now, but it is unclear in what circumstances it will apply. I was proud to lead this effort on behalf of working Minnesotans.
