Hearts & Hands. A Loving Community.

It is the most important event in the Becker community each year. Hundreds of people getting together, fund raising, holding hands, praying in love for each other. And the departed ones. This is the Relay for Life, which last Friday was enriched by over $40,000 due to the fundraising efforts of teams of walkers.

Walking for life.

Walking for love.

Walking. Just to be there.

Caring is what sets apart people in small communities from our larger neighbors. They see their neighbors and they see the need and they pitch in to help.

They ask, “What can we do to help?”

And then they help.

It seems that with something like cancer we’re fighting a losing battle.

Our atmosphere is polluted with the stuff that causes it. Remedies are few and sometimes ineffective.

It only seems, as we lose neighbors and loved ones, it’s getting worse.

But it will only get worse if people stop stepping in to ask, “can we help?”

Something about spirit and the good things it does for the human conscience and soul.

“Can we help?” so many ask.

“Yes you can,” is the right response.

Cuz doing things together, releasing balloons and naming teams with funny names and walking around a track and lighting luminaries is all about helping.

And you helped last Friday night.

Blessings to the departed Cindy Adelman and her family and friends.

Blessings to Kris Samuelson and her family and friends.

And blessings to everyone who cared
