He Did It

I don’t know how many truly thought he could win, but he did it. Donald Trump is our 45th president.

It was the biggest upset in American history. Nearly every poll predicted a Clinton triumph. Boy did they get it wrong.

Like many people I stayed up late Tuesday to watch the results, and was amazed at what I saw happening. The American people went out in record numbers and cast their ballots. Blue states turned red.

I watched people flock to the Clearwater Township Hall all day long, and was told the same thing was happening everywhere.

Today half of our country is jubilant, the other half is angry and in shock. I’m not here to cheer and I’m not here to complain. I rarely talk politics, even with my husband, and we were even on the same side during this election.

Americans are fed up. They’re frustrated and disgusted with the way things have been going. They want a voice. They’re demanding change and Trump will definitely be a change.

He’s the first president to have never held a political office or been in the military. But he knows how to run a business and he knows how to succeed. He knows how to lead and how to delegate and empower.

What has scared me the most about this entire election isn’t that we had two very imperfect candidates. What has scared me the most is how vicious people have been, how much hatred they’ve shown to those who didn’t support the same candidate they did. What’s happened to us?

As Americans we all have the right to our opinions, even when we don’t agree. That’s just one of the many reasons this is a great country.

America is divided. This election was a wakeup call; we have to start working together, no matter what our belief, color, occupation, or political affiliation is. We are fast losing our position as the number one country in the world and the path we’re on now isn’t taking us where we need to go.

He’s unorthodox. He’s politically incorrect. He’s anti-establishment. But he may also be what our country needs. I don’t have the answer, but for better or worse Trump is our next president. No matter what you think of him, he loves America.

During his election night victory speech Trump stated he would be the president for all people, and called for Americans to come together as one united people. He spoke of the tremendous potential to reclaim our country and start dreaming big once again.

He reached out to those who hadn’t supported him for their guidance and help in working together to unify America. Especially for Trump, it was a very eloquent speech, and it gave people hope that maybe things will be all right.

Whether you love him or hate him, Donald Trump has been elected our 45th president. Now it’s up to us to come together to help him make America great again.

Change is scary, but sometimes change is also necessary.
