Changing Environment Describes Class Of 2020

Preparing self-directed learners to thrive in a changing global community.” is the Becker School District’s mission statement. Never before has a class needed to adapt more to a changing environment than the Class of 2020.

Graduation always brings back memories from shared experiences and questions about the future. We always reflect on the skills graduates have attained to be ready and “thrive” in their next endeavor. This year, the Class of 2020 has faced unique challenges and has had to overcome a school year that abruptly ended and shifted to Distance Learning. The world changed by the week, by the day, and by the hour. The uncertainty of traditional milestones and routines has empowered the Class of 2020 with a more developed skill set in certain areas than any other class.

The Class of 2020 has developed:

• Grit - They have shown courage and resolve to overcome challenges and stayed dedicated to achieve;

• Persistency - They have stuck to their studies and schedules, while not knowing what is next;

• Resiliency - There have been challenges, cancellations, uncertainty, disappointment.

With all of these, the Class of 2020 has had to face the situation and withstand the difficulty it brings.

Grit, persistency, and resiliency have been necessary to carry the Class of 2020 through the last two months of their school career. Grit, persistency, and resiliency will position them even more toward future success in a “changing global community.”

To the Class of 2020, we have missed you in our halls of Becker High School. You have made a lasting impression on our school and community. We wish you the best, with your new skills, as you move toward your next endeavor and we look forward to seeing you come back to Becker High School for many years to come.

Congratulations!
