Spring is always the busiest time of the year for local society.
With warm weather comes the rebirth of our grounds - to fields of grain and gardens of produce and flowers.
Schools are tripping over themselves to stage all the year-end activities. Of course, it leads up to commencement, a going-forward part of life. Be sure to watch for the Citizen-Tribune special graduation sections featuring Becker and Clear Lake-Clearwater area students as they turn their tassels and march into the next phase of their lives.
Summer athletic activities are ready to spring forward - and that affects countless families.
Memorial Day is Monday and we hope to see a lot of you at local observances where we remember our departed ones. There’s a great meal waiting after the ceremonies at local centers and organizations, too.
All the while, our staff writers attempt to keep up with all the doings of our government groups. Penny Leuthard this week alone will visit at least four township meetings to keep abreast of what they’re discussing.
Bill Morgan, meanwhile, is covering the BHS graduation details and has been heavy into compiling the local graduation special section. There is time, however, for those who want to place a congratulatory ad to do so - deadline is Monday. Call our office - 763-261-5880.
But the true fabric of our society can be shared with the recent activities of support for family.
First, the gathering of cancer survivors in Becker last week.
Second. the large outpouring of support for the family of Niko Vig, five year old who is battling leukemia.
These activities demonstrate the heart and will of a community - to put their arms around families who are hurting and to love them.
And, oh yes, there’s a new team in town. Clearwater welcomed its new town team, the River Cats, last week. More chances for family fun this summer as the sun shines.
We’ll be watching, too.
