Upcoming Big Lake Lioness Events

The Lioness had excellent weather for the Produce Distribution at the Big Lake Elementary school on August 17th. A great variety of produce was available to those who came. Unfortunately, future distributions in September and October will not be held which the Lionesses are sad to see. This was such a worthwhile project to those looking for fresh produce.

On September 26th from 8am-2pm the Lioness will be holding their annual Garage Sale at Lions Park on CR 5. Available will be household items, clothes, 'manly' items for men, books, rugs, linens, toys and other miscellaneous ‘finds’ . Stop by and see the selection. Proceeds from this and other projects go to the community in the form of donations for school supplies, winter mittens/hats for local school children, high school scholarships, activities for seniors and supporting our local food shelf.

On Monday September 28th the Red Cross will be setting up their bloodmobile at Mary of the Visitation Church in Big Lake from 12 noon to 6:oo pm. The Red Cross provides about 40% of our nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors. But supply can’t always meet demand because only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. Each new donor helps us meet patient needs. Each year, an estimated 6.8 million people in the U.S. donate blood. It's never too late to schedule an appointment through the Red Cross website at: www.redcross.org.  Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained. The Lioness will be there to handle registration and serve snacks and beverages after your donation.

If you are interested in joining an organization dedicated to service within their community, come visit us the second Monday of every month at the Lions Park on CR 5 in Big Lake. Social starts at 6:30 pm and the meeting begins at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
