Community Mentor with Big Brother Big Sister Program
Youth are waiting for mentoring Bigs around Sherburne and Wright Counties. Mentors will be matched with a “Little” to meet with about 3 – 4 times a month to play board games, go bowling, attend the movies, go fishing, or any safe and fun activity in the community. If you have a skill you’d like to pass on, this is a great opportunity to meet one-on-one with youth needing mentoring. A background check is required, and training is provided.
Drop-In Greeter with Open Doors for Youth
Be part of a new, ongoing volunteer opportunity hosted during youth drop-in hours! Volunteers are needed in two-hour shifts from 1:00-5:00 pm (shifts then being from 1-3 and 3-5 pm), Monday-Thursday. Duties include greeting and checking in our youth (be their first contact!), answering phones, receiving and recording possible donations that would come in. COVID guidelines are being followed in the center, including temperature checks, mandatory masks, and frequent sanitizing. Youth are encouraged to make appointments to maintain safe social distancing in the center.
Indoor and/or Outdoor Chore Service with Senior Community Services
People want to stay living independently in their homes as long as possible, but often need help with light household duties. Assist older adults to stay in their beloved home by helping with raking leaves, weeding, and other light yard cleanup activities. Opportunities to assist in changing light bulbs, general house organizing, and other indoor household tasks are also available.
