Entertainer - Do you like to sing those “Old Time Favorite” songs? Shepherd of Grace Assisted Living and Memory Care is looking for volunteers to share their musical talents. Do you play the guitar or accordion?  Don’t play an instrument that’s ok. Sing along books are available that can be used to lead small groups in a cappella fashion.  Reminisce about the good old days through music. Elk River Watershed Clean Up – The Elk River winds throughout Sherburne County and is an important natural resource for us and all those downstream.  Join the effort of the Sherburne Soil and Water Conservations to clean up the Elk River watershed from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday October 3, 2015.  Volunteer will meet in Big Lake and fan out to many locations along the Elk River to do clean up. Volunteers should dress for the weather, gloves and safety vests will be provided along with a light snack and coffee.  Contact Frances – Frances - fgerde@sherburneswcd.org - 763-241-1170.
 
Substance Use Prevention (SUP) – Serve on the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office SUP Coalition Committee as a representative of a local civic organization (ie Rotary, Lions, Women of Today, etc.).  Civic organizations are an important element of the community the SUP Coalition is looking for such a representative.  The coalition is made up of concerned community members that work together to prevent youth substance use and, in turn, hope to see an improved quality of life for the entire community.  Coalition meetings are every third Wednesday, 9-10:30 AM, at the Sherburne County Government Center.  The group discusses and implements opportunities for mentorship, events, networking, understanding substance use trends and any other activity that will support drug-free youth.
