Adult Tutor with Metro North Adult Basic Education
Work either one-on-one or in small groups with adults working. Many adults are working towards obtaining their GED, Adult Diploma, or learning new skills. Offer support in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, or social studies. Some adults are learning English as a second language, so assisting in language learning is common.
Youth Volunteer at The Wave Youth Center
Assist in providing a safe and welcoming place that meets the needs of youth in the Big Lake community. Volunteers work with youth to offer mentoring, assist youth, and help develop necessary skills for the youth to grow. Volunteers are needed in the afternoon Monday through Thursday. Even the smallest act of kindness can send ripples throughout the whole community!
Family and Resource Friend with Safe Families for Children
Be a friend to a single mother by going for walks, getting coffee, being a mentor to a parent, and assist in providing parenting skills and coaching. Oftentimes parents deal with social isolation and simply need someone to talk and share with. Could help with picking up/dropping off groceries for the parents, assist in lawn care for the family, or could prepare and provide a meal for the family.
