 Gee’s Bend Quilt Program: Join local art teacher, Joan Jacobsen, as she introduces you to the African American women of Gee’s Bend, Alabama who have only recently been recognized for their important work in fiber art. Children will be introduced to these women & their beautiful, artistic quilts through a short video and the book “Stitchin’ and Pullin’” by Patricia C. McKissack. They will explore color schemes, symmetry, asymmetry & design creation in quilting by looking at real life examples of hand-stitched and machine stitched quilts.
