Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 
– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Clear Lake Legion  and Auxiliary 
-Meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Palmer Town Hall. The Auxiliary will also meet at the same time. New members always welcome.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
–On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center.  For information about these informative nutrition education classes, call the Monticello Cancer Center at 763-271-2800.
 
Knitting/Crochet Night
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges. Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.
 
Becker AA Meeting

 - is held in the Becker Community Center parking lot on Friday afternoons, 3 - 6 p.m. May 16 - Oct. 17 (no market on July 4). Vendors wishing to participate call 763-200-4271.

Clearwater-Clear Lake Food Shelf
 -is open Mon. 5:30-7 pm, Tues. 9-11 am and 6-8 pm, Wed. 3-5 pm and is in the brown Lions Community Building beneath the water tower in Clearwater.  We service residents of Clearwater and Clear Lake.
 
Sherburne History Center Quilts
-‘A Stitch in Time’ quilt exhibit will be on display in the lobby until October 31. Quilts will be switched out at the beginning of September and October. For more information contact the history center at 763-261-4433 or 763-262-4433.
 
Computer Learning and More
 -at the ABE Computer Lab at Monticello Workforce Center. We also offer preparation for the Special Boiler’s License Examination and GED prep. All services are free and open to the public. You don’t have to be unemployed to use these services. Call to get started 763-271-3768.

Becker Schools Fall Fundraiser
-PTSA Becker Schools Fall Fundraiser for the Primary through Middle School will kick off their school fundraisers on Sept. 24. Students and families will be selling items through Oct. 13. -PTSA Meetings were moved to Tuesday evenings for the 2014-15 school year.meetings will be at 6:30 in the Intermediate School Media Center for this month. We will announce the location for next month. Please note the dates for the monthly meetings. Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, Dec. 9, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, Mar. 10, Apr. 14, May 12 and June 2 (note: these dates are different then from printed calendar).

Anna’s Tea for Widows

Perspectives on Religion & Politics in Lebanon and Syria
 -will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Foley. This lecture will provide a historical, religious and political overview  relating to the current civil war in Syria and related tensions in Lebanon. DivorceCare
-groups for adults, teens and kids. Fall Activities At  Kelley Farm
-Join the Kelley Farm on Sat. Nov. 8 for a build a bird feeder workshop. Birds are a valuable resource for farmers, aiding in insect control and pollination of plants. The Kelley Farm has hundreds of bird species that pass through on migration or that live at the farm year round, including woodpeckers, orioles, blue birds and more. Participants will make a bird feeder to take home complete with directions for mounting. All materials and tools will be provided. Workshop does not include a tour of the farm. Have A Yankee Thanksgiving on Sun. Nov. 23. Oliver H. Kelley was from Boston and like many others he migrated west as soon as he turned twenty-one, settling in Minnesota in 1849. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the first day of Thanksgiving. Visit the Kelley Farm to explore what Thanksgiving was like on a "Yankee" farm in the 1860s. Guided tours will lead visitors on a hike along the wooded trails to the farm yard to meet the animals. Then guests can explore the farm house, filled with the aromas of a harvest celebration. Following the tour, pie and refreshments will be served in the visitor center. Be sure to dress for the weather. Reservations erquired, call 763-441-6896 for more information.
 
Volunteer Bridge Opportunity Expo
-will be held on Tuesday, September 30 from 4-6 PM at the Sherburne County Government Center, 13880 Business Center Drive, Elk River.  This Expo is an opportunity for potential volunteers to meet, in person, over 25 representatives from agencies in the Sherburne County area that depend on volunteers to meet their missions.  At this free event, community members will learn how to serve as a volunteer in a position that fits their own passion, skills, and schedule.  Everyone is welcome.
