Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting Day Change 
–Has changed to the third Tuesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Sons of the American Legion
 -meeting day change! The meetings are now held on the Second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
 
Becker Sons of the American Legion Squadron 193

Clear Lake Legion & Auxiliary and Sons of American Legion

Clear Lake Lioness Club

Knitting/Crochet Night
–Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
–items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges. Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.

Wellness And Weight Loss Support Group
– At Palmer Township hall, 4180 - 105th Ave., Co. Rd. 6 and 42nd St., the second and fourth Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Bring tips, recipes and topics of interest. Everyone welcome.
 
Clearwater-Clear Lake Food Shelf
 -is open Mon. 5:30-7 pm, Tues. 9-11 am and 6-8 pm, Wed. 3-5 pm and is in the brown Lions Community Building beneath the water tower in Clearwater.  We service residents of Clearwater and Clear Lake.
 
Computer Learning and More
 -at the ABE Computer Lab at Monticello Workforce Center. We also offer preparation for the Special Boiler’s License Examination and GED prep. All services are free and open to the public. You don’t have to be unemployed to use these services. Call to get started 763-271-3768. 
 
Horseshoe Pitching
 -at the Becker Legion. We installed indoor pits and are looking for anyone interested. We have horseshoes you can use or bring your own. Come to the Becker Legion (1 Blk North of Hwy 10 on Hancock) on Tues. nights from 6 to 8 pm. 
 
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Meeting

Becker Running Club

Third Thursdays Group
 -Focuses on finding peace and hope after loss. “Strategies and coping mechanisms” are discussed each “Third Thursday”, a community program at Faith Lutheran Church, Becker. The monthly gathering is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Participation is free and open to all, regardless of whether one has church background; no pre-registration is required. Becker Food Shelf Hours Change
-will be open on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. Tues. hours remain the same, 9-11 a.m. They are located 12060 Sherburne Ave. in City Hall. Call 763-261-4612 with questions.

Becker Boy Scout Pack 92
-hosts a cardboard and paper recycling drive. Bring all of your unwanted paper and cardboard recyclables to the dumpsters located between the Hardware Store and Food Pride from 9am-12n on the first Saturday of every month and a friendly scout will help you unload your unwanted paper/cardboard items. 
 
Youth Floor Hockey

Friends of the Library Looking for Books
 -Friends of the Becker Library are looking for gently used books, compact discs, computer software and games, DVDs for their book and media sale Oct. 7-10 at the Becker Community Center. Donations of the above would be appreciated and can be left at the library during library hours any day prior to the sale. No text books, damaged books or magazines should be included in your donation.

Becker Baptist AWANA Program
 -Registration is now starting.  The AWANA program, which runs Wed. nights Sept. 16-May 4, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Becker Baptist Church, is a systematic approach to studying God's word for children in Pre-K through 4th grade. Sherco Fall Archery Hunt
-Xcel Energy and Sherco Management announce a limited number of permits will be available to members of the general public for the 2015 MN deer archery season.  Applications will be available for you to pick up at the Becker City Hall, Civic Center and Sherburne County History center, starting Tues., Sept. 15.  Due to the limited number of applications, please be aware that only one application can be picked up by a single individual at any given time. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and without a DNR violation in the past 5 years.  Applications deadline is Thurs., Sept. 24. Selected applicants will be required to attend (no exceptions) one of two mandatory informational meetings on Oct. 7  and 8, 5:30-6:30 p.m.  More info will be contained in the application and acceptance letter.
 
Glendorado Country Church

Becker Schools Fundraiser
 -PTSA Becker Schools Fall Fundraiser for the Primary, Intermediate, Middle School and 9th grade, will kick off Sept. 23. We are partnering with Club's Choice. Students and families will be selling through Oct. 12. Approx. 50% of the purchase total is profit that goes to Becker Schools. Delivery will be Nov. 12 at the Becker Baptist Church from 2-7 p.m.  In lieu of ordering, donations can be made with 100% of the proceeds going directly to your child's school. Memory Loss and Prevention
-Tues. Sept. 29 from 2-4 p.m. ACT on Alzheimer’s will be hosting a free community enducation event. Please join us at the Becker Community Center for presentations by Mark Reese, MA/LMFT/Families and Long Term Care Research Studies Counselor. The 2 p.m. presentation features “Alheimer’s Disease-What it is and what can be done” and the 3 p.m. presentation is titled “Caregiving Stress-Sprint or Marathon?”
 
Drama Boosters Club Meeting
 -will be holding an information meeting Tues. Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at the PAC at Becker High School. All parents of middle and high school students involved in the performing arts are invited and encouraged to attend. Fundraising and planning for productions will be discussed. Please plan on joining us.
 
Becker Fire Dept. Open House
 -Sat. Oct. 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fire prevention handouts, truck rides, blow-up castle and North Memorial Air Ambulance will arrive at 10:30 a.m. Free coffee and donuts.
 
Sherburne History Center Book Club
The October meeting Book Club will be held Thurs., Oct. 1, 6:30 p.m. at the Sherburne History Center in Becker. This month’s selection is Hot Dish Heaven by Jeanne Cooney. The SHC Book Club meets monthly to discuss books by Minnesota authors or of local history interest. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome. Chancellor’s Quartet Concert

Elk River Watershed Cleanup

2015 Volunteer Opportunity Expo
 -sponsored by Volunteer Bridge, will be held on Wednesday, October 7 from 3-6 PM at Lions Park Center, 1104 Lions Park Drive, Elk River.  The Expo is an opportunity to meet representatives from local organizations that depend on volunteers to meet their missions.  Potential volunteers can explore the variety of ways to serve the community as a volunteer and find an experience which fits their own passions, skills and schedule. Fall Wildlife Festival
 -Sat., Oct. 3, 10 am - 3pm. Our annual celebration of wildlife, begin-ning with a 5K run/walk through the refuge. Featuring author and wildlife photographer, Stan Tekiela, live birds, horse drawn wagon rides, nature crafts, bird education, wildlife discovery, Eagle’s Nest Nature Store, silent auction and food. Small fee for 5K and food. All oth-er activities free. Classroom site on Old Schoolhouse Road south side of CR 9.
