Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 
– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Clear Lake Legion  and Auxiliary 
-Meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Palmer Town Hall. The Auxiliary will also meet at the same time. New members always welcome.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
–On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center.

Knitting/Crochet Night
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges.  Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.

 -is open Mon. 5:30-7 pm, Tues. 9-11 am and 6-8 pm, Wed. 3-5 pm and is in the brown Lions Community Building beneath the water tower in Clearwater.  We service residents of Clearwater and Clear Lake.
 
2014-2015 PTSA Calendars
-School District PTSA Calendars are here! Stop in at the Becker Schools District Community Ed. office  or Becker Community Center to pick up your pre-ordered calendar or purchase one for just $10 at Sherburne State Bank and Becker Community Center.   All proceeds from the calendar, will be distributed right back into the school district through the PTSA. Sherburne History Center Quilts
-‘A Stitch in Time’ quilt exhibit will be on display in the lobby until October 31. Quilts will be switched out at the beginning of September and October. For more information contact the history center at 763-261-4433 or 763-262-4433.
 
Computer Learning and More

St. Cloud Diocese of Catholic Women
-is having the 61st Annual fall conference on Sept. 20 beginning at 8 a.m. It will be held at St. Marcus Church in Clear Lake. The conference includes refreshments, meeting, Mass, lunch, speakers, prayer and door prizes. The cost is $15 when you register by Sept. 16 ($20 after). Quilting Social
-Sept. 15 from 7-9 p.m. at Becker Baptist Church. Refreshments provided, admission is free. Everyone welcome. Liz Vikla from Blue Bamboo Quilt Shop will be the guest speaker and will demonstrate a new Judy Niemeyer technique. 
 
Car Seat Check Up Event
 -will be held Mon. Sept. 15 from 4 -7 p.m. at Cornerstone Auto in Elk River. Free car seat checks and free car wash with completed car seat check (limit one car wash per vehicle). Call 763-765-4111 for a car seat check appointment.
 
Upcoming Programs at Becker Public  Library
-Teen Game Night.  Teens ages 12 to 18 are invited to Teen Game Night at the Becker Public Library on Monday, Sept. 15 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Join friends at the library and enjoy games after school. No registration necessary. Children ages 3 to 6 are invited to a Preschool Storytime at the Becker Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Join the fun with songs, stories and craft activities. The Becker Public Library’s Book Club for adults will meet on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6:15 p.m. The club’s book selection for this month is “Reading Lolita In Tehran” by Azar Nafisi. Newcomers welcome.

Swordmetal Fest III
 -Come out and head bang with 16 heavy metal bands on 2 stages Saturday, Sept. 20th at Goenner Park, Clear Lake MN. Free admission, free food, all ages! Games, prizes and entertainment throughout the day. Music starts at noon. 
 
Groundbreaking  Ceremony at Sherburne NWR
 -The Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge invite the public to join them at the groundbreaking for the new education building at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge. The celebration is scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2014, 10:30 a.m., and will proceed rain or shine. 
 
Beyond Yellow Ribbon Homecoming  Celebration
 -On Tues, Sept. 16 around 10 or 11 a.m., three soldiers will be coming into Becker. They have served a  1 year tour in Afghanistan. A celebration brunch is scheduled to follow the procession at Gily’s Pub. 
 
Rocket into Scouting
 -Calling all boys in grades 1-5. Cub scouting is a fun, outdoor, advancement program that positively affects every area of a boy’s life. –groups for adults, teens and kids DivorceCare is a weekly support group designed to help those recovering from separation or divorce. DC4K is a companion program for kids ages 4-grade 5, meets at the same time. Wildlife Festival 5K Run/Walk
-The first-ever Wildlife Festival 5K Run/Walk will be held at the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge on Oct. 4. Enjoy a scenic out and back course on 100% packed gravel over gently rolling landscape. . Race fee is $18 until 9/25, $20 after 9/25. The race is hosted by the Friends of Sherburne.
