Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 

– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Clear Lake Legion  and Auxiliary 
- Meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Palmer Town Hall. The Auxiliary will also meet at the same time. New members always welcome.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
– On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center. 
Topics addressed include benefits of good nutrition, managing eating problems during treatment, how to read food labels and how to eat well after cancer treatment ends.

Knitting/Crochet Night
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges. 
 
Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.

Mid Minnesota Legal Aid awarded Older Americans Act funds
 -to provide legal services for seniors in Sherburne County. 
 
The St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has recieved a grant of Older Americans Act funds from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging to provide legal services for seniors residing in Sherburne County. The funds will be used to provide legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administrative hearings. There is no cost for these services.
 
If you are 60 years or older and reside in Sherburne County, you can get help with legal proplems involving Medicare, Social Security, eviction or other housing problems, public benefits, such as medical assistance, food support and fuel assistance, family law issues, including domestic abuse and income maintenance, nursing home problems, home care services, power of attorney, health care directives and debt collection. No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning, or real estate transactions.
 
Appointments are held at Guardian Oaks Apartments in Elk River, and can be scheduled by calling 763-241-4430. Appointments are also held at the Monticello Senior Center in Monticello, and can be scheduled by calling 763-295-2000. Additionally, seniors can call the St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid toll free at 1-888-360-2889.
 
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid accepts contributions for the legal services, but contributions are not required to receive legal help.
 
Becker Farmer’s Market
 - is held in the Becker Community Center parking lot on Friday afternoons, 3 - 6 p.m. May 16 - Oct. 17 (no market on July 4). Vendors wishing to participate call 763-200-4271.

Becker Schools  2014-2015 Calendar Early Bird Sale
 -Just a few weeks left! The Becker PTSA is excited to announce the calendar will be back again next year showcasing Becker student’s artwork and photos of Becker students.  Calendars are available to purchase online on the Becker Schools website- www.becker.k12.mn.us for the Early Bird Price of $8, after June 6, the price is $10 each. Book Club – July 21
The Becker Public Library’s Book Club for adults will meet from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. on Monday, July 21, to discuss “A Secret Kept” by Tatiana de Rosnay. Join this group if you enjoy discussing good books. New members are welcome.
 
Storytime – July 22
Preschoolers and toddlers, together with their parents/caregivers are invited to a Storytime at the Becker Public Library on Tuesday, July 22, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Storytime will also be offered on Tuesday, July 29.
 
Summer Explorers Kids Club – July 22
Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to the Summer Explorers Kids Club at the Becker Public Library from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 22. The Summer Explorers Kids Club is a storytime in which children will be involved with a craft or easy science experiment following the story.
 
Smokey the Bear Visits Becker – July 22
Smokey Bear celebrates his 70th birthday this summer. He will be at the Becker Public Library on Tuesday, July 22, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. to share his knowledge and experience. Children of all ages are welcome. Smokey will help children know how to keep the forest a safe place for everyone. 
 
R.E.A.D. to Elsie – July 24
Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to read with a dog at the Becker Public Library from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24. Elsie is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog trained to listen patiently as children read. Registration is required. Call the library to sign up or for details.
 
Science Explorers Myth-Busting – July 29
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to this Myth Busting program presented by Science Explorers at the Becker Public Library on Tuesday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Using scientific processes, the group will confirm or destroy strange myths and wacky urban legends. Attendance is limited to 20 and registration is required.

Smokey the Bear Visits Clearwater– July 22
Smokey Bear celebrates his 70th birthday this summer. He will be at the Clearwater Public Library on Tuesday, July 22, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to share his knowledge and experience. Children of all ages are welcome. Smokey will help children know how to keep the forest a safe place for everyone. 
 
Figure Drawing – Manga Style – July 23
Children and teens ages 10 to 18 are invited to a figure drawing workshop at the Clearwater Public Library on Wednesday, July 23, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Artist Shayann Hoffer will provide instruction on the fundamentals of figure drawing, and how to create interesting characters in the manga style. Participants are invited to bring ideas and personal work to share. Registration is required. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
