Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 

– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
– On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center. 
 
Topics addressed include benefits of good nutrition, managing eating problems during treatment, how to read food labels and how to eat well after cancer treatment ends.

Knitting/Crochet Night
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges.
 
Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.

Mid Minnesota Legal Aid awarded Older Americans Act funds
 -to provide legal services for seniors in Sherburne County. 
 
The St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has recieved a grant of Older Americans Act funds from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging to provide legal services for seniors residing in Sherburne County. The funds will be used to provide legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administrative hearings. There is no cost for these services.
 
If you are 60 years or older and reside in Sherburne County, you can get help with legal proplems involving Medicare, Social Security, eviction or other housing problems, public benefits, such as medical assistance, food support and fuel assistance, family law issues, including domestic abuse and income maintenance, nursing home problems, home care services, power of attorney, health care directives and debt collection. No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning, or real estate transactions.
 
Appointments are held at Guardian Oaks Apartments in Elk River, and can be scheduled by calling 763-241-4430. Appointments are also held at the Monticello Senior Center in Monticello, and can be scheduled by calling 763-295-2000. Additionally, seniors can call the St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid toll free at 1-888-360-2889.
 
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid accepts contributions for the legal services, but contributions are not required to receive legal help.
 
Becker Farmer’s Market
 - is held in the Becker Community Center parking lot on Friday afternoons, 3 - 6 p.m. May 16 - Oct. 17 (no market on July 4). Vendors wishing to participate call 763-200-4271.

Becker Schools  2014-2015 Calendar Early Bird Sale
-Just a few weeks left! The Becker PTSA is excited to announce the calendar will be back again next year showcasing Becker student’s artwork and photos of Becker students.  Calendars are available to purchase online on the Becker Schools website- www.becker.k12.mn.us for the Early Bird Price of $8, after June 6, the price is $10 each. Computer Learning and More

Sherburne County Fair History Center Seeks Items
 -for a new exhibit for the fair this year (July 17-20). -Professor Marvel’s Fizz,Bang, Boom show 
July 15-Adults, teens and families with children of all ages are invited to enjoy Professor Marvel’s Fizz Bang Boom Science and Magic Show on Tuesday, July 15, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Becker Public Library. Is it a magic show or a science laboratory? Find out by taking a ride through this wonder-filled world of very cool science experiments. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Registration is required and the attendance limit is 25. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

-Summer Reading Program Storytimes 
July 15-Children ages 3 to 10 are invited to Summer Reading Program Storytime at the Clearwater Public Library on Tuesday, July 15, 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. This storytime will include stories and fun activities that explore science. Summer Reading Program Storytimes will be offered every Tuesday through July.
 
-Community Mosaic 
July 16-Adults, teens, and children 8 and older are invited to Make a Community Mosaic, a creative craft workshop at the Clearwater Public Library on Wednesday, July 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Each participant will create a small mosaic to take home, and collaborate on a big community mosaic to be displayed at the library. The instructor will be artist Lisa Arnold. Registration is required and the attendance limit is 25. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
 
Book Club – July 16
-The Clearwater Public Library’s Book Club for adults will meet on Wednesday, July 16, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The book for discussion is “The Dinner,” by Herman Koch. Join this group for interesting reads and enjoyable discussion.
 
Ultimate Lego Art 
-July 17-Explore the world of Lego like never before. Children ages 5 to 10 are invited to a program of Lego Art at the Clearwater Public Library on Thursday, July 17, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. An Abrakadoodle instructor will teach children how to build with Legos and how to draw famous Lego characters. Registration is required. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
