Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 

– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Clear Lake Legion  and Auxiliary

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
– On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center. 
 
Topics addressed include benefits of good nutrition, managing eating problems during treatment, how to read food labels and how to eat well after cancer treatment ends.

Knitting/Crochet Night
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges.

Mid Minnesota Legal Aid awarded Older Americans Act funds
 -to provide legal services for seniors in Sherburne County. 
 
The St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has recieved a grant of Older Americans Act funds from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging to provide legal services for seniors residing in Sherburne County. The funds will be used to provide legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administrative hearings. There is no cost for these services.
 
If you are 60 years or older and reside in Sherburne County, you can get help with legal proplems involving Medicare, Social Security, eviction or other housing problems, public benefits, such as medical assistance, food support and fuel assistance, family law issues, including domestic abuse and income maintenance, nursing home problems, home care services, power of attorney, health care directives and debt collection. No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning, or real estate transactions.
 
Appointments are held at Guardian Oaks Apartments in Elk River, and can be scheduled by calling 763-241-4430. Appointments are also held at the Monticello Senior Center in Monticello, and can be scheduled by calling 763-295-2000. Additionally, seniors can call the St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid toll free at 1-888-360-2889.
 
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid accepts contributions for the legal services, but contributions are not required to receive legal help.

Becker Schools  2014-2015 Calendar Early Bird Sale
 -Just a few weeks left! The Becker PTSA is excited to announce the calendar will be back again next year showcasing Becker student’s artwork and photos of Becker students.  Calendars are available to purchase online on the Becker Schools website- www.becker.k12.mn.us for the Early Bird Price of $8, after June 6, the price is $10 each. Becker Dazzlers Dance Camp
 -hosted by Becker Dazzlers Dance Team. Campers will participate in the Freedom Days parade  on the float and a stage performance on June 21. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 3-12. Sherburne History Center  Ice Cream Social
-Join us Tues. evening, June 17, from 6-8 for the 7th annual ice cream social. Enjoy live music by TeddyBearSkin, visit the exhibit gallery, see the temporary exhibit “Minnesota on the Map,” take a trail walk, and enjoy some free ice cream. The even is free and open to the public.
 
During May, executive director Mike Brubaker issued a fundraising challange. If the staff and board could raise $3000 in donations by May 31, Mike would shave his head (straight razor smooth, including eyebrows). The challenge was met and the haircut is scheduled to take place at the ice cream social. The privilege of performing the haircut will be auctioned off at the event. 
 
Oakwood Community Church Blessing Tent

Clearwater Public Library
-The Clearwater Public Library will have Summer Reading Program storytimes for children of all ages on Tuesdays, June 17 and 24, 11:00 to 11:30 am. These storytimes will include stories and fun activities that explore science. The Clearwater Public Library’s Book Club for adults will meet on Wednesday, June 18, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This is an open group of avid readers that likes to share their thoughts on the read of the month. Newcomers are welcome.
