Becker Legion And Auxiliary Meeting 

– Is the second Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m.
 
Clear Lake Legion and Auxiliary 
 
- Meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Palmer Town Hall. Next meeting is April 8. The Auxiliary will also meet at the same time. New members always welcome.

Monticello Cancer Center Offering Free Nutrition Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors
 
– On the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Monticello Cancer Center. 
 
Topics addressed include benefits of good nutrition, managing eating problems during treatment, how to read food labels and how to eat well after cancer treatment ends.

Knitting/Crochet Night
 
– Is the first and third Tuesday night of each month at Cafe Pawz, 6:30-8:30 p.m., join as your schedule allows. All ages and levels of yarn lovers welcome.  Working towards creating items to donate locally if you'd like to help.
 
Becker Lions Collecting Items To Recycle 
 
– items are: eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and printer ink cartridges. 
 
Collection boxes are located at the Becker Community Center (entryway) and Insight Eye care.

Becker-Big Lake Hockey - Kids +  Floor Hockey=Fun 
 
– For grades K-5, will be held at the Becker High School Field House April 10, 15, 17, 22, 24 and 29; May 1 - 6, 6-7 p.m. 
Open to boys and girls in Becker, Big Lake and surrounding communities. Cost is $40.

Becker PTSA Meeting  
 
-Want to learn more about what is happening in your child's school? Consider getting involved with PTSA and help make a difference in our schools. 
 
We are currently looking for individuals interested in committing 2-3 hours each month. With the number of budget requests that have been received, it is imperative that we receive input from parents, students, staff and community members as we consider each request.
 
Plan to attend the next meeting Mon., April 7 at 3:10 p.m. at the Intermediate Media Center. Discussion will be upcoming events, fundraising ideas, volunteer opportunities, student enrichment and more.

Becker Schools  2014-2015 Calendar Early Bird Sale
 
-The Becker PTSA announces the calendar will be back again next year showcasing Becker student’s artwork and photos of students.
 
Calendars are available to purchase online on the Becker Schools website-www.becker.k12.mn.us for the early bird price of $8, after June 6, the price is $10 each. Calendars will be available for pickup by July 10, 2014. For details, check out the Becker PTSA website http://beckerptsa@weebly.com
 
Clear Lake Lioness Club
 
-The Clear Lake Lioness are hosting a special spring group meeting for the Lioness Clubs from Big Lake and Montrose, MN. It will be held at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Tues. evening, April 29.

Mid Minnesota Legal Aid awarded Older Americans Act funds
 
 -to provide legal services for seniors in Sherburne County. 
 
The St. Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has recieved a grant of Older Americans Act funds from the Central Minnesota Council on Aging to provide legal services for seniors residing in Sherburne County. The funds will be used to provide legal advice, counseling and representation in court and administrative hearings. There is no cost for these services.
 
If you are 60 years or older and reside in Sherburne County, you can get help with legal proplems involving Medicare, Social Security, eviction or other housing problems, public benefits, such as medical assistance, food support and fuel assistance, family law issues, including domestic abuse and income maintenance, nursing home problems, home care services, power of attorney, health care directives and debt collection. No help is provided for criminal matters, wills, estate planning, or real estate transactions.
 
Appointments are held at Guardian Oaks Apartments in Elk River, and can be scheduled by calling 763-241-4430. Appointments are also held at the Monticello Senior Center in Monticello, and can be scheduled by calling 763-295-2000. Additionally, seniors can call the St.
 
Cloud office of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid toll free at 1-888-360-2889.
 
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid accepts contributions for the legal services, but contributions are not required to receive legal help.

2014 Becker Youth Sports Association Annual Meeting
 
-The 2014 BYSA Annual Meeting will be held on Fri., May 2 at Gily’s Bar and Grill.  The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with the meat raffle in the bar area.  The meeting will follow in the hall at 7 pm.  Representation from each of the sports under the umbrella is welcomed and anticipated. Becker Run Club

National Teacher Appreciation Week
 
-is May 5-9. The Becker PTSA would like to say, “thank you” to all of our Becker staff, for all of their hard work and dedication. We appreciate all that do, not just this week but all 52 weeks of the year!
 
Each day, name or names of Becker Staff will be drawn for a variety of prizes donated by local businesses. We are pleased that the students will have an opportunity to share in “celebrating staff”, as the winning individuals and what they have won are announced at the end of each school day.  
 
Prizes have been donated by the following businesses: Scheideman Chiropractic, Pizza Depot, Nix Bar & Grill, Monticello Movie Theatre, and Café Paws. Take time to say, “thank you” to a teacher..
