Has changed to the third Tuesday of every month at 8 p.m.

Clearwater-Clear Lake Food Shelf
Is open Mon. 5:30-7 pm, Tues. 9-11 am and 6-8 pm, Wed. 3-5 pm and is in the brown Lions Community Building beneath the water tower in Clearwater.  We service residents of Clearwater and Clear Lake.
 
Computer Learning and More
At the ABE Computer Lab at Monticello Workforce Center. We also offer preparation for the Special Boiler’s License Examination and GED prep. All services are free and open to the public. You don’t have to be unemployed to use these services. Call to get started 763-271-3768. 
 
Horseshoe Pitching

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Meeting

Third Thursdays Group
Focuses on finding peace and hope after loss. “Strategies and coping mechanisms” are discussed each “Third Thursday”, a community program at Faith Lutheran Church, Becker. The monthly gathering is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. Participation is free and open to all, regardless of whether one has church background; no pre-registration is required. Becker PTSA
2016 Famaily Movie Series tickets are available again this year! 6 Movies for only $6 at Monticello 15 and Rogers 18 Theatres. Movies begin showing Jan. 23-Feb. 28 at 10:40 a.m. & 1 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday. The featured movies are Shaun the Sheep, Minions, Penguins of Madagascar, Spongebob: Sponge out of Water, Hotel Transylvania 2 and Home. To purchase your tickets, forms are available at school offices or go to PTSA website http://beckerptsa.weebly.com, send completed form with payment to your child’s school, Attn: Becker PTSA. Becker Boy Scout Pack 92
Hosts a cardboard and paper recycling drive. Bring all of your unwanted paper and cardboard recyclables to the dumpsters located between the Hardware Store and Food Pride from 9am-12n on the first Saturday of every month and a friendly scout will help you unload your unwanted paper/cardboard items.

The Clearwater Area Library

PTSA Becker Schools Read-a-thon Kick-Off
Feb. 1-25. Prizes will be awarded for TOP students. Watch for pledge and tally sheets coming home soon. The goal of the Read-A-Thon is to encourage kids to read more and have fun while raising money for programs and projects related to literacy. Challenge your child/children to read daily during the Read-A-Thon and collect pledges. The top readers and the top fundraisers will win a variety of prizes including gift cards, movie tickets, value meals, and a bike for Primary, Intermediate and Middle School, and many other items. High schoolers can earn pizza party (You are not required to earn pledges in order to qualify for prizes).

Bring Joy to Hospice Patients
St. Croix Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship to individuals affected by a life-limiting illness. Companion visits are scheduled at your leisure.  Other volunteer opportunities include: vigil, pet therapy (dog), and office administrative. Story-telling, training and mentoring provided. Wellness on Wheels
Wright County Public Health offers cholesterol testing in the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Van. The entire test (the fasting complete profile) takes about 30 minutes.  There is a $30 fee. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
Of MN sponsors free support groups for families who have a relative with a mental illness. Led by trained facilitators who also have a family member with mental illness, the support groups help families develop better coping skills and find strength through sharing their experiences. A family support group meets in St. Cloud at 7 p.m., on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at Calvary Community Church, 1200 Roosevelt Road. 3rd Annual Memorial Archery Tournament
The 3rd Annual Memorial Archery Tournament will take place at the Becker Field House on Sat., Feb. 27.  We will be hosting 150-200 archers and sports minded people from all over MN, SD, IA and WI.  We will have concessions, multiple vendors, The Army National Guard with their 30-ft. rock climbing wall, Dave Clutter from KTIS kicking off our tournament. 26th Annual Dollars for Scholars Phon-a-thon  
The Becker chapter of Dollars for Scholars is sponsoring the Phone-A-Thon for scholarships. The Phone-A-Thon will be held on the evenings of March 3, March 15, and March 16, with  March 22 or other dates as alternate dates as needed. Anyone interested in helping with the Phone-A-Thon, making a contribution (especially if you have an unlisted number or only use a cell phone),  or getting more information about supporting Dollars for Scholars may contact Dale or Pat Seavert at 763-261-5483 or through the becker.dollarsforscholars.org website by clicking on the “volunteers” tab and following the instructions there.

Upcoming Dates for the 2016 Season: Registration is open! Register online at www.beckerbaseball.org.  Registration deadline is Feb. 29. Evaluations are March 5 in the Becker High School Field House at the following times: 9 a.m.-9 year olds, 10:30a.m.-10 year olds,  12:30 p.m.-11 year olds, 2 p.m.-12 year olds, 3 p.m.-13 year olds,  4 p.m.-14 year olds, 5 p.m.-15 year olds. Free Family Course on Mental Illnesses
Do you have a family member living with a mental illness? NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is offering a free educational course that helps families gain a greater understanding of mental illness, discuss resources, build communication skills, reduce stress and find support. The Family-to-Family course will meet weekly in Sartell for 12 weeks. The course starts Wed., March 2, 6:30-9 p.m., at Unity Spiritual Center, 931 5th Ave. North. Registration is required.
