Annual Tree Sale & New Plant Sale
- It’s that time of year to start thinking about spring planting! The Sherburne Soil and Water Conservation District will start accepting orders on the 1st of January for the annual tree sale. We offer a mix of conifer and deciduous bare root seedlings that are sold in bundles of 25 trees. The tree sale originated in order to provide landowners with an affordable and convenient way to purchase trees and shrubs for conservation practices. The tree and shrubs species offered are perfect for windbreaks, shelterbelts, wildlife habitat, and buffers. Tree orders will be accepted until mid-April with anticipated pick-up dates the last weekend in April. Post cards will be sent mid-April to those who have placed orders with exact dates, times and location of pick-up. Our order form will be on our website and there will be an insert in the newspaper in early January.
This year the SWCD has brought back the native plant sale! The restoration of native plant communities is equally as important as restoring forest communities. With the recent declines in pollinator populations such as bees and butterflies it is essential that we increase their habitat and provide a wide variety of both pollen and nectar sources. Our native plant sale offers 3 different kits to fit any landscape situation as well as a list of individual plants. There is definitely something for everyone; whether you want to add wildflowers to an existing prairie, create a miniature prairie, plant a natural buffer along your shoreline, restore your woodland understory or diversify your wetland vegetation. The plant sale order form will be available on our website. The plant sale is pre-order only, there will be no plants available for purchase during the pick-up dates.
For more information on with the Tree Sale or Plant Sale contact the SWCD office at (763) 241-1170 ext. 4 or visit our website at www.sherburneswcd.org.
