Amelia Kirchner of Becker, parents Andi Sliker and Mike Kirchner, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Minnesota Pageant June 6 and 7 in Bloomington, MN. Amelia will be participating in the preteen age division. The National American Miss Pageants are unlike any other. The emphasis of the competition is on inner beauty, developing self confidence, learning good sportsmanship and setting and achieving personal goals. Amelia’s activities include gymnastics, lacrosse, Wednesday church youth group. Amelia’s sponsors include family and friends.

Kristin Haag of Big Lake, 2014 graduate of Becker High School, is the recipient of a Concordia College Scholarship from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. Haag is the daughter of Daniel and Patti Haag, Big Lake, MN. 
 
Phil Gudim of Becker, a senior at University of Nortwestern, was recently selected as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week for tennis and was also recently named to the All-Conference teams. This is Gudim’s first all-conference award.
 
Annaleis Yuhala of Becker, was recognized during a student award ceremony at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. Annaleis is a junior majoring in criminal justice was recognized at the April 24 ceremony with Athletic All-Academic Team.
 
St. Cloud Technical and Community College Advertising Communication & Design student Jana Lloyd, a Becker High School graduate, recently competed in the 2014 Collegiate DECA State Career Development Conference. The conference was held in Mankato in February. At the state level, Lloyd placed third in design presentation. The group Lloyd was a part of also took second in sales challenge. She participated at the International Competition in Professional Sales which was held in Washington D.C. in April.
 
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Daniel R. Ropp graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, TX.  The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Popp is the son of Cheryl and Mike Popp of Clear Lake. He is a 2012 graduate of Becker High School.
