The Big Lake Ambassador Scholarship Program has gone through some major changes in the last few months and are excited to introduce the new layout of our program! We are also incredibly excited to be bringing in speakers such as our very own Miss Minnesota, Kayla Kleinsteuber, the Minnesota Aquatennial Organization, and Winter Carnival.
We have opened up candidacy under this new layout and are accepting applications until September 18, 2020. Continue reading for more information and contact Director Katrine Nau-Jackson for details.
You will find that our candidate season is an exciting time with our newly reincarnated SPUDSCHOOL, held on the 4th Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30. The girls will get together monthly for speakers and activities encouraging public speaking, self-care, professionalism, service, and other key topics. The girls will also be participating in a monthly service project benefitting our community or a local resource. Please keep in mind the key week for our whole program will be the last week of June, SPUDFEST week. To qualify to earn a crown you must be present for all SPUDFEST from June 23 through the 26th in the 2021 calendar year. You certainly can join us without seeking a royal title of a Big Lake Ambassador.
Why Become a Big Lake Ambassador?
Scholarship opportunities within our program and outside of it.
(Girls in the last few years have outdone themselves in scholarships based on the leadership skills and service opportunities in our program)
An opportunity to meet people and to have a great time!
Our Ambassadors set the stage for fun wherever they go. They meet people from across the state throughout the year and often maintain those new friendships and “sisterhood” long after they give up their crowns
A chance to Sparkle!
Our Big Lake Ambassadors enjoy getting outfitted in their royal sparkle and have various outfits provided by the committee throughout the year
Frequently Asked Questions about the Big Lake Ambassador Program
Can you participate in other activities as a candidate and if chosen as royalty?
Part of what makes the mission of the Big Lake Ambassador Program amazing is learning how to balance facets of life as you may discover as adults. We encourage girls to continue to be passionate about other things, whilst looking at the Ambassador Program as a job, something to be taken seriously. There are a lot of opportunities for growth and being in the public eye. As with anything, communication is key. Please reach out if you have questions.
What additional costs do we have as candidates?
As candidates, you need to have on hand tennis shoes, jeans without rips (or shorts as deemed fitting), a pair of black dress flats, and black dress pants
The Big Lake Ambassador Committee supplies sashes, nametags, and candidate t-shirts
Who can sponsor me?
Anyone can sponsor you and you can have more than one sponsor! Your application packet has many options but feel free to seek out your own.
