The Becker Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program is currently collecting donations of funds and needed personal items for area troops currently preparing for deployment to the Middle East. According to program organizers, supplies in military PX facilities are running low, and the collection effort hopes to supply these items prior to the deployment.
Donations can be made until Sun., Jan 12. A drop-off box will be set up at the Becker Community Center, or donors can contact Kari Westby at the Becker Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program, (320) 241-0219..
Needed items include the following: Calling cards, cash donations to help pay for shipping of the supplies, shampoo/ conditioner, toothpaste/ toothbrushes, razors/ shaving cream, body wash/ soap, deodorant, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, candy, licorice and crackers.
