Two youth soccer teams took home second place finishes in two pre-season tournaments to kick off their summer season.
Becker U15
The Becker U15 soccer team took second place in last weekend’s NW Kickers Spring Kickoff pre-season tournament.
Becker was placed into a U16-C2 division despite being made up of U14 and U15 players. The tournament was based strictly on points.
The girls lost a tough game Friday night to the U16 Galaxy team from St Francis, 7-2. Saturday, they beat the U16-C2 team from NW Kickers, 3-0. Sunday morning, they beat the U15-C2 White Bear Lake team 3-0 and in the afternoon beat the U16-C2 Gitchi Gummi (Duluth) team 4-1.
Cold and rainy weather conditions and lack of subs made things a little tough but the girls pulled together and show cased some great soccer. They ended up capturing second place with 31 points and were awarded silver medals by Minnesota United FC soccer player forward Geison Moura #99.
In all games, each team awarded their opponents a player of the game award. Receiving awards for Becker were Kalani Bauer, Lauren Sticha, Megan Peterson and Tory Nelson.
