The Bulldog boys and girls track teams traveled to Milaca Tuesday to compete in the 2014 Furman Quadathalon.
The meet is set up very differently as no places are rewarded, yet every athlete competes in four events to score as many possible points for the team and individually.
Each race, throw and jump is given a time or distance and then it is converted to a score from 100 points all the way to 1200. Athletes finish their event and then record their times on a sheet and find the corresponding point total from conversion sheets at their event. When the athlete has finished four events they turn in their sheets which are totaled and scored.
The top 20 athletes’ scores are recorded as a team score and the first place team is awarded a trophy. Then the top 15 individuals for boys and girls are awarded medals.
“It is a fun meet to compete in and something different for the athletes,” said boys Head Coach Paul Schmidt.
