The Becker Bulldog swim and dive team hosted a Granite Ridge Conference meet Saturday and took home fifth place.
“It was an exciting meet with many great races,” said Head Coach Tina Tamm. “Pool and conference records were broken, swimmers improved times and more athletes qualified for sections. “All around it was a great day for everyone.”
Andrea Molus took home second place in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle events. Nicole Larrison finished in second in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle.
Emi Quill took fourth place in diving, beating her own varsity record. Macy Erson captured third place in the 100 freestyle.
Larrison, Emma Lefebvre, Macy Erson and Molus placed second in the 400 freestyle relay.
All conference awards went to Molus and Larrison and all conference honorable mentions went to Macy Erson, Quill and Lefebvre.
Melody Swanson is Becker’s final qualifier for sections with qualifying time in the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle. This puts the Bulldog section team at 17 swimmers and divers.
The team spent the rest of the week preparing for the Section 5A meet in Sauk Rapids this weekend. Winners will move on to state Nov. 18-20 at the U of M Aquatic Center.
“I’m looking forward to some really good events from our girls,” said Tamm. “They have been working very hard all season and it comes down to this.”
