Schmidt, Hubbard Gain Invaluable Experience At State

Gymnasts Hannah Schmidt and Haley Hubbard competed at the state tournament last Saturday at the University of Minnesota and had fun, did well and gained valuable experience.

Neither of the girls were in the hunt for medals, but they gave their all and experienced the “big stage” for the first time.

“Our goal is to make it to state as a team next year,” said Head Coach Jen Harmoning. “The experience that these two gained this year will help them as they lead next year's inexperienced and young squad.”

Hubbard placed 22nd on floor, scoring a 9.125. Schmidt placed 22nd on vault scoring a 9.175 and 28th in the all-around with a score of 34.9.  She also had scores of 8.25 on bars, 8.775 on beam and 8.7 on floor.

“She did not qualify individually on bars, beam, floor, so she would have been unable to medal on them,” said Harmoning. “Both of the girls competed very well and we are really proud of them for representing Becker gymnastics as well as they did.”
