Lady Bulldogs keep cruising to victory

The Becker girls basketball team continues to live up to its top ranking in Class AAA, picking up a pair of victories in the last week over Mississippi 8 Conference foes.

Last Friday, the Bulldogs used a used a big first half to take a 55-19 lead before cruising to a 78-36 victory over Cambridge-Isanti.

Balanced scoring was again the theme for the Bulldogs, as four girls ended up in double figures.

Leading the way was Senior Julia Bengtson, as the Eastern Illinois commit poured in 22 points in just 23 minutes of play.  She also grabbed five rebounds, had four steals and dished out four assists in a tremendous all around game.

Maren Westin was also on fire in the game, scoring 15 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor.  Adeline Kent chipped in 14 points and five assists, while Courtney Nuest hit for 10.

At Saints

Tuesday night, Becker traveled to St. Francis and absolutely dominated the game, defeating the Saints 91-21.

Becker again shot over 50% for the game, whereas the Saints were held under 25%, shooting just nine-of-40 for the contest.

In fact, Becker dominated every statistical category including transition points (50 to two), points off turnovers (49 to four), and points in the paint (58 to 10).

Becker forced 36 turnovers and only committed 11.  A paltry nine free throw attempts were taken in the entire game by the two teams combined.

Leading Becker in scoring was Courtney Nuest, as she had a great night scoring 18 points in a  10-for-14 performance from the field.  Teammate Bengtson was right behind with 16 points and an incredible eight steals for the Bulldogs.
