Hornets scratch out another win over Tigers

The varsity team scored their season high and also had season highs on three of the four events as the Big Lake Gymnastics team beat Princeton, 140.175 to 110.925, improving to 3-1 in the Mississippi 8 Conference last Thursday.

Some of the girls added difficulty to their routines which increased their start values and led to higher scores.

“The girls have been working very hard everyday in practice in order to make those upgrades happen,” said Co-Head Coach Lanny Goldsmith. “We also are seeing more consistency in the routines and vaults we are training/competing along with a couple girls coming back from injuries.”

Because Goldsmith has such a deep and somewhat young team, there have been lots of competition for spots.

“It’s fun to see them support each other but also push each other for those opportunities to compete,” he said.

The team is ranked #5 in the first Class A state gymnastics rankings of the season.
