Girls Golf Team Finishes Second In Conference

The Becker Bulldog girls golf team finished second to Cathedral Wednesday at Wapicada Golf Course.

Ann Berdan shot an 81 at Wapicada to medal for St. Cloud Cathedral. The Crusaders also won the meet ahead of Becker with a team score of 361.
 
Rachel Vogl was low scorer for the Bulldogs with an 87. Becker shot their lowest score of the year (364).
 
Cheyenne Piccolo, Lauren Herker, Berdan, Anna Faerber, Lexy Schneider and Rachel Vogl were all named to the all-conference team. Piccolo also won the individual conference championship by one and a half points, which is an accumulated point system over the whole season.  
 
With Vogl’s 87, she also made all-conference and finished in sixth place. Macy Erson, who shot a 94,  got all conference honorable mention.
 
Even after graduating three of the team’s top six players from last year, the Becker girls finished just one point behind Cathedral in the season long conference standings.  
 
“No one expected Becker to contend for the championship after graduating so many good players,” said Head Coach Steve Whittaker.  “This team improved so much. They are really an awesome group.  We are very proud of them.”
 
Player Scores: Vogl - 87; Piccolo - 88; Macy Erson - 94; Hannah Garcia - 95, Erica Brovold - 105 and Ellie Goth - 118.

The state-qualifying section meet will be held in Sartell Monday and Tuesday.
