The girls had a great day at the Granite Ridge Conference Cross Country meet at Milaca Tuesday.

Team scores were Becker 24, Mora 63, Albany 76, Zimmerman 88, Milaca 122,St Cloud Cathedral 151, Little Falls 171, and Foley Incomplete.

Alli Hendrickson successfully defended her individual championship and led for the entire race although she was challenged by Albany's Kristine Kaltoff.  Alli's time was 19:49.64 and Kaltoff ran 19:51.64 while Zimmerman's Cheresa Bouley was third in 19:54.53.

Becker's scoring five runners all finished in the top 10.  After Alli came junior Victoria Kolbinger in fourth (20:01.89), sophomore Lexie Dehmer fifth (20:11.82) eighth grader Addy Kent who ran her PR time, was sixth (20:20.96), and seventh grader Dani Nuest in eighth (20:51.8).

Coach Kealy stated,“Each of the top five Becker runners earned All Conference awards which go to the top 15 runners in the race.  It was quite impressive to see the group of light blue uniforms come in so close together in the top 10!”

The next three runners from Becker (all 9th graders) also ran well in the race.  Abby Nelson placed 25th (22:31.39) and has been running very consistently and learning to race in a more aggressive manner.

Megan Gregory was an exhibition runner so did not count in team but would have placed 28th with her time (23:00.14) and Jaden Kraus came in 31st (23:16.64) to round out our team.

“It was a true team effort by each of these girls to retain the trophy for the fourth year in a row.  They really work well together and get the job done,” said Coach Kealy
The JV girls came in second as a team and had some very good races. Albany won the JV with 18 to Becker's 49 for the top two teams.

Alli Garding and Kaylyn Wiehle started out very strong with a real desire to do well.  They have been pushing one another to make the varsity and we appreciate their efforts.  Alli placed fourth (23:43.78), Kaylyn sixth (24:10.89).

Tate Spinner ran one of her best races of the season for ninth place (24:31.238).  Olivia Mateyka continues to improve and came in 13th (25:30.21). Dependable Bryanna Edling was 17th with a season best time (26:03.98) for our scoring runners.  Rounding out the JV was Maddy Schmitz 22 (26:38.91), Maddie McDonald 28th (27:12.32), Callie Doucette (27:12.73),  for Becker’s top eight runners.

“This was the last race for several of the seniors who have been with us for a number of years and we sadly say goodbye to them.  Haley Benda, Ellie Schwartz, Renee Tripp, Jessica Sand and Kayden Westin finished out their careers with Becker CC and we wish them the best in their future!”,  says the coach.

Next race is the Section 8AA meet at Fergus Falls Thursday.
