The Becker Bulldog girls CC team competed at the Lucky Lindy Invitational at Little Falls on Sept 15. They took fourth place out of 18 teams. There were several state ranked teams taking part in this meet and the competition was intense.
Team scores: Alexandria 87, Staples-Motley 93,Perham 111, Becker 115, Monticello 127, St Cloud Cathedral 139, Rocori 142, Little Falls 224, Fergus Falls 285, Minnehaha Academy 291, Pequot Lakes 291, GNK 318, Heritage Christian 332, Detroit Lakes 375, Thief River Falls 415, Albany 437, Foley 472, Grand Rapids 472.
St Cloud Tech, St Cloud Apollo, Cromwell Wright and Sauk Rapids Rice were incomplete.
There were 127 racers and Calia Chaney of Pequot Lakes took first.
Becker’s girls were led by Adele Changamire running a PR time of 18:29.6 for seventh and Lexi Rose with a PR time of 19:52.1 for 11th.
Olivia Babler ran well with a season best time for 24th (20:32.0), Brooklyn Karel had a season best (21:04.4) for 36th.
Alea Briggs was 44th with a PR time of 21:26.4 with an outstanding finish kick. Close behind Alea was Bella Duncombe in 46th with a season best time of 21:30.5.
“These two worked together well during the race to push one another and each encouraged the other to be better,” said Head Coach Trish Kealy.
Becker’s seventh runner was Katelyn Brower, who was running well along with Alea and Bella but tweaked an injury and gutted it out to finish 80th - ahead of many other runners of the 127 finishers. The Bulldogs were without Ella McDonald this meet and hope to have her return soon.
Becker’s JV runners had six season-best efforts in their race. They took fourth out of eight complete teams. There were 133 finishers.
Natalie Trenz was Becker’s first runner to cross with a season best (23:00.2) for 16th. Kayla Gruenes was 17th (SB 23:01.1), Tasha Berthiaume 20th (SB 23:19.2), Regan Hausmann 22nd (SB 23;28.1). Raelee Lyon was Becker’s fifth runner and placed 34th (SB 24:12.1) followed by Sophia Malisheski in 39th ( 24:29.1) and Raegan Leaders (SB 26:29.2).
The junior high girls moved up to the 3200 meter distance at this meet and placed fifth out of 10 teams. The girls finished in a nice pack with Aria Deidrick 28th, Laney Hodel 29th, Ava Scheiber 30th, and Kendall Olson 31st.
Lorelei Swanson was just 19 seconds back in 39th.
Abby Frey and Myka Maksimenko and Lille Stevens also tackled the 3200 well. Also running her first cross country race was Charlie Dirkes.
“So proud of all these junior high girls as they learn how to race,” said Kealy.
