Eagles win 3

Becker/Big Lake closed the regular season on a high note with three impressive victories. 

Last Thursday, the team took down Northern Edge 8-2 behind a dominant second period. The Eagles led 2-1 after the first but scored five goals in the second to take a commanding lead. Brayden Graning and Jase Tobako each had five points, with one of Tobako’s giving him 100 total for his career. Graning got his with four goals and an assist, while Tobako scored two goals and had three assists. Spilde and Beckham Laska each had three assists as well. 

On Saturday the team scored another 8-2 victory, this time over Bagley/Fosston. Graning again had five points with two goals and three assists in the game. Spilde was the leading goal scorer with a hattrick. Lucas Hancock, Hayden Kipka, Samuel Rusin, and Tobako all contributed two points. And William Johnson, Grayson Kipka, Gavin Jacobson, and Laska all had one point. 

And Tuesday night the team closed out their regular season schedule with a come from behind win on the road against Mora/Milaca. The Eagles trailed 2-0 heading into the third period but scored four goals in the final 17 minutes of action to win 4-2. The team got on the board early in the third period on an Ethan Grafnitz goal, his first of the season. Graning scored the next two before Tobako punctuated the win with a goal in the last minute. 

The goalie tandem of Declan Weber and Andrew Holm was stellar, combining to stop 45 of 51 shots on the week. 

The team’s final record of 15-9 is their best in a season since finishing 13-12 in the 2013-14 season. Now the Eagles will wait and see who their first round matchup will be in the Section 5A playoffs.
