Delano Advances With 24 Point Win Over Becker In Semifinals

The Becker Lady Bulldog girls' basketball team came up short, 60-36 to Delano in Section 5AAA semifinals in Buffalo last Saturday.  With the loss, the Bulldogs finished the season 17-10. Rachel Vogl scored 12 for the Bulldogs and was the only player for Becker to score in double digits.
 
Delano had three players score in double digits including 16 from Bria Barfnecht, 15 from Brooke Lemke and 13 from Alex Wittinger.
 
Barfnecht also had 16 rebounds, one assist and four steals.
 
Delano came out hot and were difficult to stop as they quickly established dominance and built their lead to 38-19 by the end of the first half. The Bulldogs held their own in the second half, but had too much to overcome and fell to the Tigers by 24.
 
Becker Scoring: Vogl 12, Kalley Anderson 6,  Abbigail Morrell 5, Whitney Raygor 4, Alexa Hanowski 3, Amanda Lindsay 3, Alex Johnson 2 and Carlee Kobow 1.
 
Delano Scoring: Barfnecht 16, Lemke 15, Wittinger 13, Erin Norling 7, Makenna Giese 4, Kalley Koch 3, Greta Halonen 2.
 
Becker’s Lindsay finished her junior season as the team’s top scorer, tallying 227 points in 27 games for an average of 8.41 points a game. She was followed by Morrell with 206 points in 27 games and an average of 7.63 points/game.
 
Alex Johnson averaged 7.15 points per game and scored 193 points in 27 games. Kobow had 192 points (7.11 PPG), Hanowski had 187 pints (6.93 PPG), Raygor had 177 points (6.81 PPG), Vogl had 166 points (6.15 PPG), Anderson 94 points 3.48 PPG), Hallie Benda had 46 points (1.92 PPG), Renee Tripp had five points (.5 PPG), Maddie Kerzman had five points (.55 PPG) and Payton Bernstrom had four points (.5 PPG).
