THE BECKER DAZZLERS DANCE TEAM continues to show improvement week-in and week-out. They head to Albany Thursday and press on to prepare for sections Feb. 4 in Rocori.

Dazzlers Find Their Groove At Rocori

The Becker Dazzlers Dance team competed at the Rocori Invitational last Saturday.

“Our Section tournament will be held at Rocori High School on Feb.  4,” said Co-Coach Julie Baloun. “This invite gives us a great opportunity to try our routines on the floor we will compete at for Sections.”

She says “knowing you spots and getting a feel for the floor can really help the athletes going in to such an important competition.”

Varsity Kick
The varsity kick squad performed well and earned their highest score of the season and improving by 15 points from this same competition last year.

Their 37 points were also well over their score from one week ago.

“We have had a lot of changes this season due to things like illness and/or injuries,” said Baloun.  “I'm not sure we have competed our kick routine with the same 12 girls out on the floor this year.”

Baloun says it can be hard for her girls to get the consistency within the routine when different athletes are going out each week.

“This performance felt like a turning point for us,” she said.  “We plan to just keep getting stronger as the season winds down. We have some very hard working, positive athletes on this team and it's exciting to see where this team can go.”

Varsity Jazz
The varsity jazz crew made a lot of changes to choreography and formations prior to this competition and it paid off.

“We have some work to do perfecting the changes to our routine, but the team worked hard making adjustments and performing to the best of their ability,” said Co-Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.

“We are always looking to improve our scores and will continue to do so in the coming weeks leading up to sections.”

JV Teams
The JV teams turned in strong performances this week.

“The team has been working together so well that their performance level improves each competition,” said JV Coach Jody Lechner-Roepke.

“The strength and determination of these young athletes heightens at every practice and performance.  They simply amaze me.”
