Both area men’s summer baseball teams failed to find their first win of the 2015 season as both squads fell to 0-2.

 

The Becker Buzzards amateur men’s baseball club began their 2015 season with a doubleheader at home June 13 against the Cold Spring Springers. Game times were at 1 p.m. and  3 p.m.

 

The Buzzards lost both games in convincing fashion — losing the first game 9-1 and the second game 7-0 to drop to 0-2.

 

Becker plays another doubleheader Sunday against the Silver Rebels at Fort Ripley. First game is at noon followed by the second game at 2 p.m. The Silver Rebels are also 0-2 on the season.

 

The Clear Lake Lakers baseball team fell to 0-2 on the year with a 6-1 loss to the Sartell Muskies June 21.

 

Despite giving up three errors in the game, the Muskies accumulated 14 hits to Clear Lake’s eight in the easy win. Pitcher John Schumer quieted the Laker’s bats with 11 strikeouts in eight innings pitched.

 

The Lakers will play this weekend in the annual Staples Tournament Saturday and Sunday starting at noon each day.
