Bulldog girls down Saints

A huge second half performance from the Becker girls basketball team gave the Bulldogs a 70-60 win over St. Francis last Friday.

The Saints had a blistering first half, racing to a 37-29 lead behind balanced scoring a high energy defense.  But the Bulldog youngsters were not deterred, as they poured in 41 points after intermission claim the M8 win.

Adele Changamire scored 19 points (eight rebounds and five assists) for the Bulldogs and sister Andie put in 21 points, 15 in the second half.  Rowan Hausmann added seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

But perhaps the biggest statement came from Becker eighth grader Alyse Denne, who led all scorers with 25 points, as she rained in five threes from deep territory and also went a perfect six-for-six from the free throw line.

With three scorers in the high double figures, the Bulldogs proved to be too much to handle for the veteran Saints squad.

Vs. Magic

Tuesday night, Becker took a nice halftime lead against the Monticello Magic, 32-24, before falling 54-50 down the stretch.  The Bulldogs held the Magic to just eight field goals in the first half before the Class AAAA team found its offensive rhythm after the intermission.

Andie Changamire had 26 points to pace the Bulldogs, as she was the lone Becker player in double figures.

Becker hit seven three pointers in the game, while Monticello had just three; however, the Magic enjoyed a big advantage at the free throw line, hitting 15 of 21 shots to the Bulldogs’ four-for-six performance.
