Brown reaches 1,000 pts.

The Becker girls basketball team scored another M8 victory last week with a Friday night 69-14 win over Big Lake, before falling Saturday to STMA in a Breakdown Sports “Community Clash” contest.  Tuesday night, Becker senior Ayla Brown recorded her 1,000th career point in a win over Monticello.

Hornets

Against Big Lake, Becker was dominant on the boards as they held a 46-22 rebounding advantage, including 25 on the offensive end of the court.

Westin led all scorers with 16 points, while Bass chipped in 15 by going 5-for-8 from the three point line.

Becker scoring: Dani Nuest 7, Maren Westin 16, Hannah Dierkes 13, Ayla Brown 3 (5 assists, 5 steals), Madi Bass 15, Claire Leither 2, Lauren Croal 3, Avery Johnson 2, Liz Mackedanz 8.

Big Lake scoring: Ashley Fitzgibbons 5, Rylie Sternquist 3, Mya Knapp 2, Emma Jacobs 4.

STMA

Last Saturday, Becker fell to Class AAAA powerhouse STMA, 70-83.

Nuest and Brown each connected on six three-pointers apiece, but the Knights’ inside presence was too much for Becker to overcome as STMA held a 32-18 scoring advantage in the paint.

Nuest, Brown and Westin combined for 63 of Becker’s 70 points.

Becker scoring: Nuest 22 (7 rebounds), Westin 14 (7 rebounds, 6 assists), Dierkes 3, Brown 27 (8 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), Evelyn Kreft 4.

Magic

Tuesday night’s 71-49 win over Monticello was highlighted by Senior Ayla Brown reaching her 1,000th career point. She is the third Bulldog player to reach the milestone this season, joining Dani Nuest and Maren Westin.

Fittingly, Brown reached the milestone with a three-point basket in the first half, as she finished the game with 13 points.  Westin had a monster game, scoring 30 points for the Bulldogs with 12 field goals and a perfect 4-for-4 night from the free throw line.

Nuest had six three-pointers in the game en route to her 24 points.  Evelyn Kreft chipped in four points to round out the Becker scoreline.
