The season came to an end last Friday for the Becker boys golf team, as they finished eighth at the Section 8AAA golf tournament.
While the team didn’t advance to the final day, five individuals did play well enough to advance to the individual finals on the second day of competition.
Brayden Graning, Thomas May, Tucker Tatge, Carson Schwarzkopf and Jordan Mateyka each earned the right to compete on the final day with a state berth on the line.
“Jordan was the low man for us after day one and Brayden was the overall low man for us after day two,” Coach Dan Olson said.
None of the Bulldogs made the cut for the state tournament.
In the Mississippi 8 Conference final standings, the team finished in fifth place overall. Graning and Tatge picked up All-Conference honors, while May and Schwarzkopf were named Honorable Mention.
With the season complete, Olson also announced several team awards, with Graning picking up MVP honors and May being named Most Dedicated. Tatge was named the most improved golfer.
“The 2024 season was an enjoyable time with a great group of kids,” Olson said as he reflected on the season. “We lose Brayden, but have a solid core in place for next year.”
