Last Thursday the Hornet girls swim and dive team traveled to Cambridge for a Mississippi 8 Conference meet against the Bluejackets.
The home team came out ahead with a 103-83 victory. Despite the loss, there were a number of standout individual performances for Big Lake, including many first-place finishes.
The team of Adelyn Fox, Charlotte Overbay, Maia Wenderski, and Emily Edlund dominated in the 200-meter freestyle relay, winning by three seconds. Wenderski and Edlund had success on their own as well. Wenderski took first in the 200-m freestyle and second in the 100-m breaststroke. Edlund won the 50-m freestyle and the 100-m butterfly. Emmelia Kortenkamp was the winner in the 100-m breaststroke. And Torri Ramert won gold in the 1-m dive event.
The team’s only event this week is a trip to Ogilvie next Tuesday, October 1.
