The Becker gymnastics team hosted its annual Bulldog Clinic Invitational on Fri., Dec. 5 and came home with the title.
This meet is different then normal meets because after the athletes compete, the judges take the time to give them feedback on their skills and their routines. Head Coach Jen Harmoning said this is great for the athletes to be able to take firsthand feedback from the judges and ask questions of their own. It’s also an amazing way to start the competition season off, as the girls get ready for the conference matchups.
“I was very proud of the way the team performed at this very early point in the season,” said Harmoning. “They have been working hard all off-season, and many of the gymnasts successfully transferred new skills into their competitive routines.”
The team continues to get stronger as each week goes by. The annual Bulldog Clinic Invitational was supposed to be a quadrangular, but one team had to pull out, which meant that the Bullsogs were allowed to field two teams.
The team results were as follows, first place: Becker (first team) 138.15; second place: Chaska-Chanhassen 130.4; third place: Becker (second team) 125.4; and fourth place went to Wayzata with a score of 119.85.
