The Gymnastics 7A Sections results were held at North Branch last weekend with Becker finishing second (140.55) and Big Lake third (138.125).

Monticello captured first place with a score of 144.575.

The top finalists, plus the next three highest scorers in each individual event, advance to the state tournament.

Becker

There were many challenges that the Becker gymnasts had to face including illnesses and equipment failure, but they persevered. Two Becker athletes were awarded the honor of competing in the Class A Individual State Tournament on Feb. 22. Those two gymnasts were Junior Karli Kirk and Freshman Maggie Graning. 

Some highlights of the Section Tournament included Becker seniors Bella Kuschel, Sofia Scholl, and Alison Woodard with their amazing performances of the night. More strong routines came from seventh graders Alyse Denne and Brielle Kuschel. Brielle Kuschel scored her season high score and personal record with her new skill on vault and a final score of 8.8. 

“The entire group of section team members showed what it means to work together as one and to never give up,” said Coach Jen Harmoning. 

The section competitors included Bella Kuschel, Sofia Scholl, Alison Woodard, Lillian Bonsante, Karli Kirk, Chloe Spear, Violet Johnson, Maggie Graning, Alyse Denne, and Brielle Kuschel. 

Scores on vault consisted of Karli Kirk (9.4 Qualified for state) with a fourth place finish and Maggie Graning (9.25) with a seventh place finish. 

Scores on bars consisted of Maggie Graning (8.6 - Qualified for state) with a fifth place finish, Karli Kirk (8.375) with a seventh place finish, and Alyse Denne (8.1) with a ninth place finish. 

Scores on beam consisted of Alyse Denne (9.05) with a fourth place finish, Alison Woodard (8.675) with a ninth place finish, and Lillian Bonsante (8.575) with a 10th place finish. 

Scores for floor consisted of Maggie Graning (9.4 - Qualified for state) with a second place finish, Alyse Denne (9.1) with a seventh place finish, and Karli Kirk (9.075) with a 10th place finish. 

Score for all-around consisted of Karli Kirk (35.3) with a seventh place finish, Maggie Graning (35.15) with an eighth place finish, and Alyse Denne (34.75) with a 11th place finish. 

Big Lake

Big Lake placed 3rd with a 138.125 – a season high score.

On bars, Calla Morris scored an 8.5 for sixth place and qualified for state. Allie Lu scored an 8.225 for eighth place.

On beam, Allie Lu scored a 9.3 for first place and qualified for state. Calla Morris scored an 8.950 for fifth place

On floor, Allie Lu scored a 9.4 for second place (a personal best) and qualified for state.Calla Morris scored a 9.325 for fifth place and qualified for state.

In the All-Around, Calla Morris scored a 35.85 for fourth place. Allie Lu scored a 35.825 for sixth place .
