14 Swimmers/Divers Qualified For Sections (So Far)

“Our girls continue to drop times in their events and are excited for the next phase of the season.”

That was the sentiment from Head Coach Tina Tamm as her team competed twice this week to close out the regular season.

The only varsity competition they have is a True Team Tournament in Sauk Rapids today (Oct 14).

“We should get a good look at how the section meet will go,” said Tamm. “I’m looking for some really good times to come out of the meet Saturday.”

The Becker JV girls have one last chance to make a section time when they compete Monday at St. John's University for the Granite Ridge JV championship meet.

“I think our JV girls will also have a fabulous meet,” said Tamm.  “We are just starting our ‘playoff’ season and with a month to go, we are going to buckle down and train hard for that section meet, We just need to keep everyone healthy.”

Becker vs. SCC/SJP
Becker swam against SCC/SJP last Thursday (Oct. 5) and lost by a 119-65 score.

Becker vs. Albany
Tuesday, Becker had what Tamm considered one of their best races on senior night.

“The seniors got to choose one of the individual events for the meet,” she said.  “They picked races that they hadn't swam yet and wanted to.”

Emily Lipinski chose the 500M freestyle (6:25), Jalissa Johnson chose the 100M backstroke (1:16), Melody Swanson chose the 100M breaststroke (1:25) and Angelle Spaeth chose the 100M backstroke (1:42.

“They all performed their season best times and may have qualified for sections,” said Tamm.

Currently, Tamm has 14 girls qualified for the section meet and is looking forward to possibly adding a few more in the next week or two.
