With deep sorrow and much love, we share the passing of Marie (Warrington) Maag, age 83, of Becker, Minnesota. Marie passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at Quiet Oaks Hospice House in St. Augusta, MN, surrounded by her children.
Marie was born on October 27, 1941, in Webster, South Dakota, to Elmer and Ellen (Coyne) Warrington. She grew up in the Butler area, graduated from Bristol High School, and then went on to Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen, SD. She met the love of her life Dennis Maag and they were married on June 7, 1962, in Lily, South Dakota. She devoted herself for the next 51 years to raising her family and working alongside Dennis while farming near Wallace, SD. They later moved to Watertown, SD, spent winters in Florida near family, and traveled the world together. After Dennis’s passing in 2016, Marie moved to Becker, MN, to be close to family.
She had five children: Kevin (Cindy) Maag of Pewaukee, WI; Alan (Kim) Maag Sr. of Florence, AZ; Beth (Paul) Soenneker of Becker, MN; Aaron (Pam Lewis) Maag of Fort Myers, FL; and Kent (Hilary) Maag of Blaine, MN; and eleven grandchildren: Alan (A.J.) Maag Jr., Garett Maag, Jane Maag, Henry Maag, Mitch Soenneker, Freya Maag, Liam Maag, Blake Soenneker, Colin Maag, Ellie Maag, and Charlie Maag. She was lovingly known as Grandma Ree to her grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents, Elmer and Ellen; her sister, Elizabeth Jenness; and her grandson, A.J. Maag.
A funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown, SD, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Lunch will follow in the church hall, and internment will take place at the cemetery in Webster, SD.
