Duane Theodore Anderson, age 88 of Becker passed away on Friday September 19, 2014 at Heritage of Foley.  

 

Visitation was Tuesday September 23, 2014 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.  The funeral service followed, Pastor Steve Johnston officiated.  Interment was at Becker Cemetery.  

 

Duane was born on July 27, 1926 to Theodore and Irene (Johnson) Anderson.  He attended and graduated from Becker High School in 1944.  He also graduated from the Northwestern Radio-Television Institute.  Duane farmed in the Becker area from 1948-1964.  He then worked as a rural letter carrier from 1964 to this retirement in 1988. He also owned and operated his own agricultural lime service with his son, Anderson and Son.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association.  He had many interests including motorcycling, family football, trains, travel, biking, antique car, tractor and motorcycle restoration, crossword puzzles, card playing, his special cats and dogs, driving, and especially socializing. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Hanson) Anderson in 1964;  son Lee Duane Anderson in 1973;  sisters Devota Wornson of Mesa, AZ, Marlyn Callanan of Mankato;  brothers Sherwood (Bud) of Litchfield, and Kendall of Becker.  Duane is survived by his wife Corinne (Barg) Anderson who he married in 1976;  daughters Renae (Carl) Peters of Adel, IA, Audrey Szymansky of Lake Elmo, MN, Janet (Gary) Beckman of Owatonna, MN, Diane (Binner) Anderson of Duluth, MN;  five grandchildren;  two great grandchildren;  and sister Sharon (Howard) Jensen of Brooklyn Center, MN.
