Douglas Milton Hamacher, Sr., age 81 of Becker, passed away Monday, May 11, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation was Friday, May 15 at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, Monticello. Funeral services followed. There was a private interment. Funeral arrangements were with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.

 

Douglas was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Becker to Carl and Ethel (Cox) Hamacher. He lived his entire life in the Becker area. Douglas worked for NSP (currently Xcel Energy) as an electrical high lineman,  and Donovan Construction for several years. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, and wine-making.

 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ethel; son Jeffrey; brothers Earl, Carl and Louis; sisters Izola and Vera; and son-in-law David Blomquist.  He is survived by 11 children, Douglas, Jr. (Jan) of Clear Lake, Dennis (Elaine) of Becker, Susan (Bob) Wacker of Alberville, Randy (Lynn) of Becker, Ralph (Anita) of Becker, Deb (Doug) Knutson of Becker, Carolyn Blomquist (Douglas Stokes) of Monticello, Nancy (Brock) Fleahman of Woodlawn, TN, JoyAnne (Curtis) Suchy of Clear Lake, Dawn (Chad) Hoyt of Spring Valley, WI, and Kimberly (Owen) Berndt of Sauk Centre; 32 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; sister Phyllis Abrahamson; and brother Roger (Karen) Hamacher.
