Diane Marie Kollar Burgess Murfin (she loved to use all the names that applied through her life) lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 2, surrounded by family and the gentle hands of Centracare. She was born June 20, 1952 in Minneapolis to John and Eileen Kollar, graduated from Walker High School, and married Ron Burgess in 1973. They had two beautiful children, Kelly and Travis, while Diane experimented with a number of different occupations. After being divorced from Ron, Diane married Walt Murfin in 2003, and was partner with him running their log home business near Becker, Mn.
Diane was a strong mother and wife, loving her children above everything. She loved her job chinking log homes, and met many wonderful people through the company. Diane and Walt loved to “diverse” camp out of their car, kayak the rivers, and explore the back roads. She found great fun discovering the local people and their customs and towns rather than the famous tourist attractions, especially during their travels to England and Europe. Most every night for years Di and Walt would sit by their oak fire and enjoy the evenings, often cooking over the open fire. Although she loved music, she never imagined she would sing, but with great encouragement, she discovered karaoke and her signature tune “these boots are made for walkin’ ”
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Christine (Dale) Aasen
She is survived by children Kelly (Jason) Ehlenfeldt and Travis (Erin Musich) Burgess, Benjamin (Bobbi Lindsey) Murfin, sister Patricia (Dave Pederson) Kollar, brother Frank (Francisca) Kollar, seven grandchildren (Jason, Levi, Aria, Nevada, Isabella, Mylah, Karly) and two great-grandchildren (Piper & Hazel)
Diane did not like saying good-bye, but rather “See you on the flip side”, so that’s what we’re all planning to do!
Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
