Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Aug. 7, at St. Marcus Catholic Church in Clear Lake for Cassy Lyn Maurer, age 10, who passed away Friday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Rev. Virgil Helmin officiated and the burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation was Thursday at the church and one hour prior to the services Friday also at the church in Clear Lake. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Clear Lake.

 

Cassy was born Sept. 6, 2004 in Monticello to Charles & Teodora (Mapait) Maurer. She lived in Becker her entire life and would have been a 5th grader at Becker Elementary School this fall.

 

Cassy was a member of St. Marcus Catholic Church where she was a mass server. She enjoyed playing cribbage, biking, fishing, reading, and playing games on her iPad especially minecraft and unicorns. Cassy had a great sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and liked hugs. She loved spending time with her family.

 

Survivors include her mother, Teodora of Becker; brother and sister, Patrick of Big Lake and Alenita of Becker; grandparents, Guadencio and Anatalia Mapait of the Philippines, and Connie Maurer of Coon Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cassy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Maurer and grandfather, Kenneth Maurer.

 

Memorials are preferred to the Cassy Maurer Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, 407 Pine St., Monticello, MN 55362.
